Street Dance for Boys
This beautiful art form is the backbone of all dance, requiring both physical ability and gracefulness. Classes aim to promote good technique, whilst using movement to tell stories. Famous ballet 'stories' include The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.
Tap was created from combining elements of African drumming and dancing with techniques of European clog and step dancing. This was transferred to the minstrel stage and there it was polished into something identifiable as 'American Tap Dance'. Tap classes start by learning basic rhythms and steps and then progress to more complicated combinations.
Whether you're a Fred, Ginger or Roly Poly, why not try our adult tap classes? All ages and abilities are catered for, so get those toes tapping!
Originating in Vaudeville, a dance form known as 'stage dancing' was born. This progressed to Broadway and the West End, and can now be seen in modern musicals such as West Side Story, Fosse and Chicago. This form of dance has since been renamed 'modern jazz' and our classes aim to take the pupil from warm up through to complex jazz combinations.
