| Ballet |
This beautiful art
form is the backbone of all dance, requiring both physical
ability and gracefulness. Classes aim to promote good technique,
whilst using movement to tell stories. Famous ballet 'stories'
include The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. |
| Tap |
Tap was created from
combining elements of African drumming and dancing with techniques
of European clog and step dancing. This was transferred to
the minstrel stage and there it was polished into something
identifiable as 'American Tap Dance'. Tap classes start by
learning basic rhythms and steps and then progress to more
complicated combinations. |
| Modern
Jazz |
Originating in Vaudeville,
a dance form known as 'stage dancing' was born. This progressed
to Broadway and the West End, and can now be seen in modern
musicals such as West Side Story, Fosse and Chicago. This
form of dance has since been renamed 'modern jazz' and our
classes aim to take the pupil from warm up through to complex
jazz combinations. |
| Freestyle |
Learn how to dance
like your favourite pop stars! This is a fun and funky class
where children are encouraged to develop their own ideas and
dance styles. This subject draws inspiration from a wide variety
of dance forms, such as disco, street jazz and hip hop. |
| Gymnastic Dance |
Gymnastic Dance can be described
as an infusion of choreography and gymnastic skills. Children
learn to build up their skills and integrate them into their
routines. Older pupils may prefer Limbering classes, to stretch
out muscles and loosen up for other classes. |
| Tiny
Tots |
An introductory class
for pre-school children, teaching basic movement through the
use of nursery rhymes and story telling. Mums and Dads can
stay and watch too! |
| Street Dance for
Boys |
Diversity watch out! A boys only
class exploring the different elements of street dancing such
as locking, popping, waving and breaking. No set uniform is
required for this class although a separate pair of indoor
shoes should be worn in the studio. |
